Found this in an old (more like prehistoric) recipe book I have. My youngest had a sleep over and I wanted to make something fun for the girls to have in the morning….plus it makes the house smell amazing bright and early…tickles noses and says “wake up sleepy heads!” 😉
1/3 C. SOFT SHORTENING (I add a T. or two extra)
1/2 C. SUGAR
1 1/2 C FLOUR
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. nutmeg
STIR IN 1/2 c. milk. (Again, I add a tad more because of the dryness of these puffs)
fill greased muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake @ 350 for approx. 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Immediately roll in 6 t. melted butter then in a mixture of 1/2 c. sugar, 1 t. cinnamon
Makes 12 puffs. Serve warm. Enjoy!
