A Thanksgiving favorite! Tender, flavorful and juicy will be the theme so be ready to wow your guests!
1 whole turkey (12-14 lb) fresh or thawed
1 T. veg oil
2 T. Rubbed sage
1 T. Paprika
1 T. Seasoned salt (I use Old Bay)
2 t. garlic powder
1 t. ground black pepper
3/4 t. ground nutmeg
1 lg. onion – cut into wedges
6 bay leaves
Brush turkey with oil. Mix all seasonings except for bay leaves. Sprinkle 1 T. of the seasoning mixture inside the turkey cavity. Spread remaining over entire surface of turkey and under skin. Place onion and bay leaves inside turkey cavity. Add 1/2 c. water to pan, cover loosely with foil.
Roast in 325 degree oven 1 hour. Remove foil. Roast 2-2 1/2 hours longer or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees, basting occasionally with pan juices.
Let stand 20 minutes to rest.
Reserve pan juices for gravy.
