OLD FASHIONED SUGAR COOKIES

This is an old recipe I got back in the 90’s from my stepmom who is now almost 80.  It’s definitely a FAVORITE OF MINE…..

(MAKES 7 DOZEN, OR CUT IN HALF TO MAKE 3 1/2 DOZEN) :

SugarCookies2_6885-copyCREAM TOGETHER:
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. powdered sugar

ADD, 1 AT A TIME, BEAT UNTIL FLUFFY:
2 eggs

THEN ADD BLENDING WELL:
1 c. vegetable oil
2 t. vanilla
1 t. grated lemon peel

IN SEPARATE BOWL, WHISK TOGETHER (THEN MIX WITH CREAMED MIXTURE):
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cream of tartar
1 t. salt
4 1/4 c. AP flour

When done blending all ingredients well (as instructed above), refrigerate dough 2-3 hours.

Preheat oven at 325 degrees.  Grease 2 large cookie sheets.  Divide dough into thirds – refrigerating the ones not using yet – taking out and using when ready.

These can either be cut out cookies, or drop cookies, flattened somewhat and sprinkled with colored sugar.

Bake 8-10 minutes.  Let stand on sheet 2-3 min, then move cookies to cooling rack.

80 calories per cookie – and worth every calorie!  ❤

ENJOY – AND BE BLESSED THIS HOLIDAY – AND EVERY DAY!
